Scholarship Tracker: Update revealing

With national letter of intent for the Class of 2013 behind us, Duck Sports Authority took the time to update the Scholarship Tracker to include the newest additions to the Duck team.

DSA Scholarship Tracker

Looking at the Tracker, a number of things become clear. One is that the 2013 Oregon squad will be very young again. Only 14 seniors will be on scholarship, with the juniors another relatively small group of 18.

Sophomores will be heavily represented. This is because Oregon has been able to play more and more younger players given the recent successful recruiting classes. Of the 23 sophomores on scholarship, eight of them still have their redshirt year available.

The freshman group once again is big with 28 members. This is because players from the Class of 2012 who redshirted last year are included with the 18 signed high school players.

Of the 19 players signed brought in with the class, only linebacker Joe Walker is already enrolled in classes at the University of Oregon. Though a couple had mentioned during the recruiting process thoughts of early enrollment, all the prep signees are more likely to arrive in June for orientation and fall camp.

A quick glance at the Tracker makes something else obvious. The Ducks need to bring in a bunch of beef for the defensive line in the class of 2013, and they will have a chance to contribute right away.
