2005 (Redshirt): After a long wait and finally clearing all the hurdles, Willie Glasper finally made it in and spent his first season as a redshirt trying to put on some more weight and learn the defense. He has shown much promise, but must learn the speed of the game and get more physical. Cornerback will be one of the bigger needs for 2006 and he has every opportunity to put himself in position to become a major player in the Oregon defense.

2003 (Redshirt): HIGH SCHOOL — Accumulating Parade, SuperPrep and Prepstar All-America accolades, the unanimous No. 1 prep cornerback candidate in the West (SuperPrep) was rated as the sixth-best cornerback in the nation (TheInsiders.com). Finished 12th in the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Best in the West balloting while the two-time Contra Costa Times first-team all-area recipient was fifth on the publication’s 2003 Cream of the Crop ledger. California’s ninth-ranked prep prospect averaged 7.2 yards per carry (775 yards) and scored 14 touchdowns on the ground his senior season in addition to grabbing 14 catches for 224 yards and two scores. Also passed for one TD to lead the Spartans to their 12th straight undefeated season (13-0). Included were 120 yards rushing (8.6 avg.) and three touchdowns vs. Palma. Ranked third in the Bay Valley League in rushing and seventh in the area in scoring (102 points) for the national powerhouse which led the area in scoring (40.8 ppg), rushing (287.5 avg.) and total offense (403.6 avg.). Yet was probably at his best on the defensive side of the ball despite his modest 2003 numbers precipitated by a sterling junior campaign. Credited with 16 tackles, two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries after intercepting eight passes as a junior. Elusiveness was showcased by his team-leading 14.3 punt return as well as his 22.5-yard kickoff return averages. School completed the 2003 season with its 151st consecutive victory and ranked No. 1 in the country (USA Today) for the third year in a row.

OREGON — Has displayed tremendous physical skills which results in ability as a great cover cornerback. Relies on instincts to place himself in position to make plays yet could utilize a better air of confidence needed to be successful at his position. Begins fall camp in the mix to secure a starting role but needs to be prepared to tackle the challenge head on. When he masters the art of finishing plays, could evolve into a player to be reckoned with. Joining the program in time for the 2005 winter term, he grasped the defense well during his initial spring and maintained the attitude that is conducive to improving with every practice. Tied for third among defensive backs in vertical jump (31 inches) and tested third with a 310-lb. bench press during the winter.
