Redshirt Review: Devon Blackmon

Most freshmen on any college football team redshirt during freshmen season. This means a year of scout team and no travel. At the same time, those players have a year to learn the system, playbook and how to live away from home.

For Oregon fans, little is known about the most recent crop of players who redshirted because all practices have been closed to the public and media for the last year. In order to give Duck fans an insight into these young athletes, Duck Sports Authority is pleased to kick off its 2012 redshirt review series with analysis of wide receiver Devon Blackmon.

Before Oregon

Blackmon came to the Ducks from Summit high school in Fontana, California a highly touted recruit. Ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver and the No. 35 overall player in the country, the 6-foot, 175-pound high school athlete had offers from the entire Pac-12 as well as numerous top D-1 schools nationally.

The Ducks signed four wide receivers with the Class of 2011, with Rahsaan Vaughn, B.J. Kelley and Tacoi Sumler.
