2012 ATH Garmon has heavy interest

Though he is still waiting for his first verbal offer, Greg Garmon has received plenty of attention from big-time college football programs.

Most of the schools showing interest in Garmon are in Big Ten country, either in that conference or the MAC.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete has run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, so he has all the physical tools to take his game to the next level.

"I know I've been getting letters from Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Penn State, Toledo, Akron and Bowling Green," Garmon explained. "It's a whole bunch of schools right now.

"[This summer] I went to the Penn State camp, the Akron camp, the Ohio State camp, Pitt, North Carolina and West Virginia. I think I did real good at the Ohio State camp."

Most schools will probably be recruiting Garmon as a running back. Though he started last season at Erie (Pa.) McDowell he didn't carry the ball all that much. He will probably be touching the ball more this season. He also sees some time at cornerback.

Though Garmon said it is too early to talk about favorites he also said he really enjoyed his time with the coaches at North Carolina and Pitt.

McDowell's first game is September 3 in Veteran's Stadium against Cathedral Prep.

Last fall Garmon carried the ball 45 times for a little less than 600 yards and 10 touchdowns.
