Cottrell makes his decision

Jack Cottrell has been on the Boston College recruiting board for a while. The Minnesota athlete picked up an offer from the Eagles weeks ago and he visited the school at the start of the week.

Cottrell, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior from Eden Prairie (Minn.), visited Boston College on Monday and Tuesday.

He thoroughly enjoyed himself on campus and especially appreciated the time he spent with the players and coaches. Several days after the visit he decided he had seen enough and wanted to shut the recruiting process down.

Cottrell committed on BC on Friday but kept a lid on that until Saturday when he confirmed to EagleAction.com that his choice had been made. He is currently with family in Iowa and as only available to talk via text.

"It was the campus and the atmosphere was great," Cottrell said in explaining his decision. "I just feel like I fit in."

Cottrell is being brought on board as a versatile athlete that could end up at linebacker, defensive end or even tight end on the other side of the ball.

He registered 89 tackles on defense and made 10 tackles on special teams as well. He also picked off a pass and blocked a punt.

He told EagleAction.com that he is solid in his commitment to BC.
