Ducks may have made DC decision

The Oregon Ducks kept their tradition of in-house hiring alive when they selected linebackers Coach Don Pellum to replace Nick Aliotti as defensive coordinator. Of course, nothing is official yet, but sources tell Duck Sports Authority that only paperwork stands in the way of the announcement.

Pellum graduated from Oregon in 1985 after starting for the Ducks at linebacker and has been with them a total of 23 years since. During his career he has coached linebackers, safeties and defensive line as well as duties as recruiting coordinator.

Other candidates for the job included defensive backs coach John Neal and former Miami coach Randy Shannon.

Next Thursday recruiting continues in earnest for Pellum and the Oregon coaches as the NCAA opens campuses for visits for a contact period that lasts until February 2nd. The Ducks will be bringing in the final official visitors from the Class of 2014 during this time.

By that time, it appears the Oregon Ducks will have a new defensive coordinator to tell their recruiting targets about.
