2019 4-star RB Austin Jones talks Ducks offer: "I love Oregon"

The Latest: Class of 2019 four-star running back Austin Jones is one of the nation’s best players, regardless of position, so while he only has a handful of offers now his list will only continue to grow in the coming weeks and months. But according to him, he already received his dream offer, courtesy of Oregon earlier this year. Rivals.com caught up with him at the recent Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas stop in Los Angeles earlier this month to get the latest on his relationship with the Ducks.

In His Words: “That was real crazy when I got the offer from Oregon. I grew up watching them on TV and stuff and getting an offer from them, that was wild. I loved DeAnthony Thomas, Lamichael James, Marcus Mariota, all of them. I loved them. I can’t wait to get up there for a visit this summer.”

On his fit: “They told me they love my speed, my vision. They love everything about me and said I’m the type of running back they need up there. I said I’m all on board because I love Oregon.”

On the new staff: “Coach Heyward is my main recruiter and he’s a cool coach. I love the new coaches. They’re super cool. Down to Earth. They’re cool to everyone. They’re not those type of guys that act like ‘I’m a coach so I’m going to be super serious.’ They’re actually relatable.”

Rivals Reaction: Jones was one of the event’s top underclassmen so it’s not surprising to see both his high ranking and some of the Pac 12’s best already on his offer list. He will likely be a national level recruit and a guy to track going forward, so Oregon jumping into the mix early could turn out to be a very smart move.
