Today could potentially be a big one for Oregon basketball and it has nothing to do with their preseason game against Northwest Christian College tonight. At 12:30 pm PST five-star rated SG/SF Troy Brown will be announcing his college destination, and the Ducks are one of the leaders for his services.
Final eight: Alabama, Arizona, Cal, Georgetown, Kansas, Ohio State, Oregon and UNLV
The 6-foot-7, 205-pound athlete out of Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial is ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect in the nation and is the type of talent that could impact a program as a true freshman. He has international experience and was first team, All-State in Nevada last season after averaging 19 points, nearly 10 rebounds and six assists per game.
Duck Sports Authority's take: We like Oregon’s chances here. We are hearing that he is intrigued by the Nike connection that the Ducks enjoy and had an excellent official visit to Eugene the weekend of 9/23.
Though he lists a final eight, our sources say three teams are thought to be in most serious contention: Oregon, Kansas, and Georgetown.
Should Brown choose the Ducks Dana Altman’s class would be stellar despite a fourth scholarship slot still being available. Oregon already has two solid commits to their class of 2017 in four-star forward Abu Kigab and four-star shooting guard Victor Bailey.
Stay tuned.
