Sua’ava Poti had been to Oregon before.

The 2019 four-star defensive end from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco had a memorable time in Eugene during the offseason but his visit this past weekend was way better.

There’s a reason for that.

“I personally enjoyed this trip 10 times more than my spring visit because it was a lot more personal,” Poti said.

“I was really able to sit down and talk with all the coaches and really see if this place fits me. A lot of the players on the team showed us a lot of love and were like big brothers.”

So far, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman has landed offers from Boston College, BYU, Colorado, FAU, Illinois, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, San Diego State, San Jose State, TCU, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Washington State.

Seeing the game-day atmosphere at Oregon was also a huge experience for Poti, who has seen the stadium before but was back with Bosco teammates RB George Holani and 2020 standout quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei.

“The atmosphere in Autzen Stadium is unreal,” Poti said.

“The fans in Oregon really take pride in Ducks’ football and I really appreciate that. The team played great and contained Khalil Tate very well.”

As for a frontrunner in his recruitment, the 2019 four-star would not say the Ducks stand out most but he was coy about where Oregon is in his thinking.

“I guess we shall see,” Poti said.
