Minnesota DL picks Oregon

The Oregon Ducks are starting to add some beef to their defensive front. Two weeks ago it was Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou standout Canton Kaumatule. Today it was Minneapolis (Minn.) De La Salle defensive tackle Drayton Carlberg when he made his announcement at his high school.

Carlberg becomes the second defensive lineman committed to Oregon's class of 2015 and the 16th player overall. The Ducks likely have five or so scholarships remaining for this class and one or two more of them could potentially also be dedicated to the defensive front.
The Ducks are pursuing several of the top-rated defensive linemen in the country still, and their announcements are likely still several weeks away. The list of serious candidates is impressive including three five-star prospects:
Byron Cowart - Seffner (Fla.) Armwood SDE No. 1 rated overall recruit in the nation.
Josh Sweat - Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith DE No. 5 rated overall recruit in the nation.
Rasheem Green - Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra DT No. 19 rated overall prospect in the nation.
Carlberg chose Oregon over a final group which included Cal, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina and Vanderbilt.
