QUAAAACK! 4* PG Richardson a Duck

Oregon basketball just got even better as the 47th ranked prospect in the 2018 class, four-star point guard Will Richardson, announced his intentions to play college ball in Eugene. Richardson, originally out of Georgia, brings a scorer's ability to the point guard position.

Over the past year Richardson has honed his craft at the "1", steadily improving as the leader on the hardwood floor. It has been his long-term goal to be seen as a big point guard, rather than a combo guard at the college level and beyond.

"I can lead the team, I can score. I want to play point guard on the next level."

Although withholding his announcement until after the early signing deadline, he decided to lock in his decision by signing a letter of intent with Oregon prior to making his college destination known.

Richardson chose the Ducks over an impressive list of suitors including: Gonzaga, Georgia, Ohio State, Xavier, and many others. Gonzaga and Georgia joined Oregon in the Richardson's final three. This is definitely a bit of a sting for the local school, Georgia, but shouldn't be too surprising since the Ducks had been rumored the favorite for a while now.

Richardson's decision seemed to become clearer once the Ducks missed out on the top target in the 2018 class, RJ Barrett, opening the way for Richardson to join the Ducks. While Richardson would remain a target even had Oregon picked up Barrett, it seemed smart on Richardson's part to wait it out, as this will definitely present a better chance for minutes now.

Besides being highly talented, Richardson brings the added bonus of being pegged as a multiple year player in Altman's system. He sits just a hair outside of the ability range of a sure-thing one-and-done type prospect, instead being the type that you can build long-term success around.
