D.J. Uiagalelei could be the next big-time quarterback at powerhouse Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco and this past weekend he took another trip to Oregon.

The Ducks definitely impressed.

What stood out most to the 2020 standout who’s having a stellar sophomore season was his budding relationship with co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo. The two have met multiple times before and it was definitely another memorable moment.

“The best thing I liked about it was the coaches,” Uiagalelei said. “This was probably the third time I met coach Arroyo. I met him for the spring game and then I met him at a spotlight camp they had in La Verne.

“Just the things he showed me and the cut-ups of my film that he’s really looked at and he compared it to the plays they run at Oregon and the plays we run, it showed the same exact plays.”

Something else that stood out for Uiagalelei was the game-day atmosphere at Autzen Stadium.

“That was the best place I’ve been to in forever for a college football game,” Uiagalelei said.

“I’ve never been to a place like that before. Just how loud it was and how the fans were, they were all into the game. The whole game. Even when they were blowing out Arizona, it was an electric atmosphere to be in.”

So far, the 2020 quarterback has landed offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Fresno State, Illinois, Indiana, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC and Utah.

Uiagalelei, who said Washington is one school showing new interest, said it’s too early to name any frontrunners in his recruitment but the Ducks definitely impressed him this past weekend.

After taking over the starting role earlier this season at St. John Bosco, Uiagalelei has thrown for 2,460 yards with 26 touchdowns and two interceptions.
