Austin Jones has the potential to be the top running back in the West and one of the best nationally and this past weekend he took an important unofficial visit.

The 2019 four-star from Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd went to Oregon for the Washington State matchup and he had an excellent time in Eugene.

It could wind up being an incredibly important trip for Jones, who said that he loves Oregon and grew up watching DeAnthony Thomas, Lamichael James, Marcus Mariota and others.

Already well-versed on the program, it was crucial for the 2019 four-star running back to visit Oregon and once he did his interest in the Ducks only went higher.

“I really love the fan base, the facilities and everything about Oregon was nice,” Jones said. “The coaches were all inviting and cool. If felt like I was watching a family. I had a lot of fun.”

So far, the Oakland Bishop O’Dowd prospect has landed offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, San Jose State, UCLA, Utah and Washington.

No other trips have been finalized yet but Jones said he’s hoping to take another important Pac-12 visit before the end of his junior season.

“I should be going to Washington soon,” Jones said. “I'm not 100 percent sure yet.”

The four-star running back is putting up huge numbers in his junior season, which should lead to even more recruiting attention. Jones has rushed for 699 yards and 14 touchdowns on 61 carries this season, averaging more than 11 yards per touch.
