RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Jayvaun Wilson is approaching double-digit offers and the three-star has two early favorites.

“Right now, it’s Oregon and Washington,” Wilson said at the recent King of the IE tournament. “Those are my top two. I really don’t have a top five but I can say Oregon and Washington are my top two.

“I like (Oregon assistant) coach Donte (Williams). He and I have a good relationship. I know he’s a man of his word and he doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He tells it how it is and that’s what I like about him.

“(Washington) coach (Chris) Petersen is a great coach. He’s been to plenty of championships. The way he coaches his team is just how my coach in high school coaches his team so I like that and I want to be in an environment that I’m used to.”

So far, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound three-star prospect has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah and Washington. Wilson plays running back and defensive back in high school and prefers one position.

“At the next level, I want to play running back,” Wilson said. “I have some schools offering me at running back, some at safety and I know Oregon and ASU offered me as an athlete.”

Wilson’s brother, Jay Jay, plays for the Sun Devils but the three-star said that won’t influence his decision. USC and UCLA are showing new interest and he said if the Trojans offer they would move way up his list.

“USC would be at the top,” Wilson said. “It’s closer to home and I could stay near family and go home when I wanted to.”
