Dan Lanning has made savvy coaching staff hires in his time leading Oregon's football program. A'lique Terry checks off a lot of the boxes the Ducks looked for when Adrian Klemm decided to head back to the NFL to join the staff with the New England Patriots after one season in Eugene.

Terry, himself, spent the last season at the professional level as an assistant defensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings. He is no stranger to the college game, however. He is also no stranger to Oregon.

The Wake Forest alum made the move west back in 2019 to become graduate assistant with the Ducks helping to guide the offensive line. He eventually moved on to a role coaching the offensive line at Hawaii in 2021.

Though his career as a coach has not been a lengthy one, Terry brings some youth and valuable experience at different levels to the Oregon coaching staff.

"We are thrilled to welcome A'lique back to the Oregon family," Lanning said in a statement provided by the Ducks announcing the move Tuesday. "A'lique is very familiar with our program and understands the values and goals that we have here in Eugene. He is passionate, with unique experiences that range from the college ranks all the way to the NFL as a coach. He also has experience as a player, competing at the Power 5 level on the offensive line.

"His relationships with our current and past student-athletes are unmatched, and his reputation as a teacher precedes him. We are really excited about what A'lique brings to our program and the positive impact he'll have on our student-athletes both on and off the field."

Terry steps into an important position but one that he should be able to enter seamlessly. The Ducks put together arguably the top offensive line unit in the country last season allowing an FBS-low five sacks. Oregon has reloaded at the position with key transfers and newcomers giving Terry plenty to work with in his first year back.

"I am really excited to return to the University of Oregon," Terry said. "I want to thank Coach Lanning and the Oregon administration for this incredible opportunity to be a part of what they are building in Eugene. I've experienced first-hand how special Oregon is, and I couldn't be more fired up to get back and connect with our student-athletes. I am very appreciative and can't wait to get to work."

Terry played offensive line for four seasons at Wake Forest and has coached on both sides of the ball throughout his career so far.
