Adams to transfer to Oregon

The Oregon football team made an impressive recruiting haul last Wednesday when 16 prospects from across the nation sent their letters of intent to the Ducks, joining the six members of the class already enrolled.
Duck Sports Authority asked Coach Helfrich last Wednesday, with a certain veteran FCS quarterback in mind, if he might be adding another player to his class of 2015.

"If there is a situation where we are going to make our team better than we are going to make our team better," Helfrich coyly responded.
On Monday the situation arose and the Ducks potentially made themselves much better as Eastern Washington University quarterback Vernon Adams announced his intentions to transfer to Oregon via Instagram.
"Oregon it is! First off, I want to thank God for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank all of Eagle Nation for all the love and support. Want to thank every single one of my teammates for pushing me to be a better man/athlete everyday these past 4 years. Definitely want to thank Coach B, the coaching staff, and the everybody upstairs who has something to do with my success. Thank you Coach B for being the first school to ever offer me, you'll always be a good friend of mine. I also want to thank all the other athletes and coaching staff's here at EWU for all the love & support. I'm going to love & miss yall forever Cheney/Spokane but I have to do what I think is best for me and my family. All love. GOD BLESS #GoDucks #WTD"
The Ducks told the FCS All-American during his recruiting visit last week that he will have to compete for the position. At the same time, bringing in a game-tested winning veteran to an open position is something appealing to any coaching staff. And certainly Adams has the confidence that he can compete and win the starting job.
During Wednesday's press conference Helfrich said he was "comfortable" with his current quarterback situation.
But certainly coach is not as comfortable at the position as he was last year with Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota at the helm.
The reason the move is possible is that Adams will graduate from Eastern Washington in June. NCAA rules allow a player who has completed his degree to transfer to another school without sitting out a season.
"We are very honest with our guys," said Helfrich Wednesday. "It is hard. We are going to work them unconventionally and we are going to support them unconventionally. It's not for everybody."
Clearly Adams is ready to take on the challenge in his final year of football eligibility.
To win the starting job Adams will need to beat out RJr Jeff Lockie, RFr Morgan Mahalak, RSo Ty Griffin, RSo Taylor Alie and Fr Travis Waller.
