Briscoe Jr. details Oregon commitment

Oregon fans love it when recruits whose parents were Ducks follow in their footsteps. How about when their parent played for a northern division rival? That is the case with Yakima (Wash.) AC Davis linebacker Eric Briscoe Jr. whose father was a Husky but this week pledged himself to the Ducks.
Eric Briscoe played rover for Washington in the early 90's and was named as a team captain his senior campaign in a nod towards his leadership abilities. With his son making his college pick 25 years later, the elder Briscoe let nature take its course.

"He told me he wanted me to go to the place that fit me best and Oregon is that place," Briscoe Jr. told Duck Sports Authority following his decision.
"The biggest reason was the coaching staff. Don Pellum and Coach Helfrich are guys I want to play for."
It didn't take long after his weekend scholarship offer to let the Duck staff know his intentions.
"I had it made up in my mind after I visited in May (for the Spring Game) that if they offered me I would probably commit shortly after," said Briscoe Jr. "So when Coach Pellum offered me I didn't really have to think about it much. I already knew I wanted to go there."
Though he has played tight end, safety and linebacker in high school, the Ducks are thinking defense at this point.
"I love defense," said the6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete. "I love hitting people and setting the tone early in the game. I think outside linebacker is a good spot for me because I can run sideline-to-sideline, rush the quarterback and make plays in the backfield.
"I think I will fit in well though I don't know exactly where I will be playing. I know that I can make an impact."
The No. 61-ranked OLB in the country will not be playing at his father's alma mater but he still has an idea how he would like to give him some props.
"If possible I would like to wear #28 like my dad did."
