Ducks convene in San Antonio on Christmas

Christmas Day is not always a day of rest for athletic teams, and that is true for the Oregon Ducks in 2013. On this occasion they will be travelling to San Antonio, Texas to begin the on site portion of their preparations for the Alamo Bowl against the University of Texas.
Oregon will officially be welcomed at the Marriott River Center at approximately 4:00 p.m. Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich, center Hroniss Grasu and safety Brian Jackson are scheduled to talk to the media in the lobby following their arrival.

Just before finishing practices four days ago, Coach Helfrich spent time preparing his team for the short holiday break.
"There is time for focus and there is time for fun," said Helfrich. "When it is time to meet it is time to meet. When it's time to have a great time with the incredible Texas hospitality, we will enjoy that. Flipping that switch back-and-forth, I think our leadership guys will do a good job of managing our other guys."
As the Oregon team reassembles in San Antonio, Helfrich expects his charges to show up motivated.
"Our guys have been excited to prepare," said Helfrich. "If you can't get excited to play, period, then that is an issue. Certainly it is a bowl game, it's an incredibly talented team, it's an iconic program, it's a road game on their turf. I think our guys will be very excited to play."
After getting settled into the team hotel, the Ducks plan to spend the night on the town enjoying another great American sport.
Oregon is scheduled to attend Valero Alamo Bowl Night at San Antonio Spurs Game as the Spurs take on the visiting Houston Rockets.
