The Oregon recruiting class of 2015 got a big boost on Monday when Destrehan (La.) wide receiver Kirk Merritt announced his decision to become a Duck.

The scene was not entirely unfamiliar for the announcement of a top recruit; a pre-announced time with all eyes from interested schools on him. In the case of the Merritt the scene was the 7:00 pm central time at the Sports Pub and Grill in Destrehan. The two most likely hats on the table belonged to Oregon and Texas A&M with Alabama and Auburn also in the mix.
Merritt visited the weekend of October 31st to take in Oregon's 45-16 drubbing of Stanford, a weekend which also bore witness to the halftime locker room commitment of Punahou (Hawaii) Rivals100 DL Canton Kaumatule.
Merritt becomes the 22nd commitment to Oregon's recruiting class and the second wide receiver, joining already enrolled Alex Ofodile in coach Matt Lubick's unit.
With National Signing Day looming midweek, the Ducks may be done with this recruiting class, though it is still possible another prospect or two will be added.
Stay tuned to Duck Sports Authority as we close in on signing day and prepare for the next Oregon national title run.
