Oregon now in picture for No. 1

The Oregon Ducks have now jumped into the picture for the No. 1 cornerback in the nation as ranked by Rivals.com. Theodore Ginn, Jr. from Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville. It might be a long shot right now in getting this five-star performer to Eugene….but it is far from being impossible. The win against Michigan might have helped those chances too.

“He talked to someone from Oregon this week (last week),” Theodore Ginn, Sr. said. “They are in the picture.”

But is he interested in them at all?

“He has got to be.”

“They just came into the picture,” Theodore Ginn, Sr. went on to say. “You never know… We don’t know much about Oregon. It depends on their track program.”

Mr. Ginn said they don’t know anything about Oregon’s track program, but being allowed to run track in college is an absolute must. When asked, he said, “USC and Tennessee have the best track programs.” Mr. Ginn speaks with some knowledge, as he is a track coach himself, but he just is not familiar with Oregon’s track program yet.

Right now, his son will probably visit or has the following as his top schools:

“USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Pitt, probably Iowa and Tennessee.” He rated them as “all together” at the top right now.

One Big 10 recruiting coordinator is quoted as saying the following about Ginn: "Ted Ginn is just one of those guys on film that pops out and makes a lot of amazing plays. Then when you combine everything he has physically, you have the makings of an All-America cornerback in college and a future NFL first-round pick."

He is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, No. 1 in the Rivals.com Ohio Top 50 and No. 1 in the Midwest Major Top 50.

It is no wonder that most schools in the country are after Ginn, as he has burner speed with a legit 4.3-second 40-yard dash time to go along with a solid grade point average in school - 3.35. He was his high school’s Mr. Versatility as a junior, while throwing for approximately 300 yards - 15 completions on 26 attempts and five touchdowns. Plus, he gained an additional 408 yards rushing on just 40 carries and scored another 10 touchdowns. It did not stop there, as he caught 15 passes for 502 yards, which is an incredible 33.5 yards per catch average. On defense, where he will probably play in college, he notched 27 solo tackles, 15 assists, 10 interceptions, three sacks and five fumble recoveries.
