Oregon offer intrigues 4-star Georgia OG

Rivals250 OG Jalil Irvin is a hot commodity. Top schools from the east coast, Midwest and south have honored him with scholarship offers, and on Tuesday, the former University of Michigan commit received his first West Coast offer as the Oregon Ducks threw their hat in the ring for the 6-foot-4, 265-pound athlete.

With so much interest in the Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson standout, it would be easy to conclude that his latest offer would be just another on the pile. But it might not be.

“I love the offer,” said Irvin. “I had a cousin (Dior Mathis) play for Oregon so it's pretty cool”

How cool? Enough to vault the Ducks into contention. Duck Sports Authority asked the four-star prospect which offers are standing out to him right now.

“Oregon, Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee and UNC,” Irvin replied.

In addition to having family connections to the Ducks, the teams’ tradition also has an appeal to him.

“Oregon is a great program that had a lot of great players pass through,” said Irvin.

In terms of upcoming travels, Irvin has only one upcoming trip on the books.

“Currently my only trip is to Auburn March 4th,” said Irvin. “I do not have any officials set.”

For Oregon, the key to landing this national prospect would be securing one of his official visits, something that is several months away from being determined. Duck Sports Authority will stay in touch with Jalil Irvin to see if it will happen.
