Oregon kicked off its 2016 campaign on Monday with the annual Media Day as the Ducks began fall camp. Duck Sports Authority caught up with graduate transfer QB Dakota Prukop to talk about his transition to Eugene and the completion shaping up on the field.

On learning from the last graduate transfer QB, Vernon Adams

“Definitely when I first got here we talked quite a bit. Leading up to the process, when I first got here, there was a lot of conversation between me and him. I haven’t had to really do that as much lately. He is working on his own transition now up in Montreal.

“We stay in contact but I am not calling him on a regular basis anymore.”

On being in a QB battle for the start

“It kind of feels like I started over a little bit. At Montana State I was in a really tough quarterback battle that was about a year and a half in the making. There was another really talented quarterback there. I competed with him for a long time and I learned under another good quarterback Denarius McGee.

“So I feel like I’ve restarted. But I know exactly where to have my mind. I know exactly what needs to be done to win the job. So I am just restarting and using the tools that I have learned so far in my life and carrying them over.”

And how did Dakota answer the question: “Would you have made the transfer here if you didn’t think you were going to start?”
