Rivals150 PG "loved" Oregon visit

Oregon basketball is surging and it’s not all on the court. Last year’s recruiting class was stellar for Dana Altman and the Class of 2017 is shaping up very well. Last weekend the Duck hoops program hosted two officially visiting recruits, Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy point guard Lindell Wigginton and Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep forward Abu Kigab.

Wigginton is ranked as one of the top players in the country as the No. 40-overall basketball prospect nationally. With his first visit under his belt he now has a benchmark for the other two he has scheduled.

“It went well,” Wigginton summarized. “I loved the school, the city. All the fans and the coaches treated me well.”

For the four-star prospect the best part of the visit was not the vaunted Oregon facilities that often get first mention from recruits. It was how the Duck staff interacted with him.

“I just liked how real and honest the coaches were with me,” said Wigginton.

The highly-recruited point guard made the long trip West with his family.

“My mom and dad came with me and they liked it,” said Wigginton.

While some thought that he might commit during his trip West, that did not happen. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete intends to take more visits starting with another later this month.

“I have got three visits set,” confirmed Wigginton. “It was Oregon where I just came from, then next weekend (9/23) Iowa State, and Arizona State too. I'm not sure yet for ASU but sometime in October.”

After seeing Oregon for himself, where do the Ducks stand on his list of top schools?

“I’m not sure yet,” Wigginton answered. “I don't have a top three. All the schools that I set visits with are coming very hard.”

Will the Ducks be serious contenders when he makes his decision?

“I've always been serious about Oregon because me and the coaches have a great relationship and I feel I can come play right away and so do they.”

Duck Sports Authority will check back in with Lindell Wigginton following his Arizona State visit to get the latest on his recruitment and to find out which schools are still standing out.
