Dan Lanning's revamping of the Oregon defensive line continued Wednesday. Already with a stout incoming recruiting class up front, the Ducks added a key transfer to the mix with South Carolina transfer edge rusher Jordan Burch announcing his pledge to play for Oregon after three seasons with the Gamecocks.

The massive 6-foot-6, 275-pound junior from Columbia, South Carolina visited Eugene over the weekend leading to his decision Wednesday.

Burch joins the Ducks after his best season at South Carolina. He finished 2022 with a career-high 60 tackles (32 solo) to go along with 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also had 3 passes defensed.

In his career, Burch has collected 105 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks plus an interception.

Lanning and his staff have been working to rebuild the defensive line and pass rush group for Oregon this offseason, and the addition of Burch helps the Ducks make up for the loss of DJ Johnson while bolstering a group that will bring back some experience as well.

It has been a strong week for the Ducks in the transfer portal with Oregon adding each of its recent visitors coming off a key weekend for the program. Burch visited Eugene along with Fresno State safety Evan Williams and Arizona State linebacker Connor Soelle.

All three have joined the Ducks in recent days.

Burch is arguably the top transfer pickup of the offseason for the program as he was once rated a five-star recruit by Rivals as a member of the 2020 class. He was ranked as the No. 2 strongside defensive end in the class and No. 17 recruit overall that year.

He took official visits to LSU, Georgia and Alabama before deciding on staying close to home to play at South Carolina.

The Ducks have now made nine transfer additions since the end of the season with five of those players coming in to play on the Oregon defense in 2023.

Burch will have two seasons of remaining eligibility at Oregon.
